President Hugo Chavez Frias has met Movimiento Quinta Republica (MVR) leaders and Military High Command officers at Miraflores

“The presence of 50 tanks in Fuerte Tiuna should not alarm the public.” 3rd Infantry Division commander Major General Jorge Garcia Carneiro says “we’re getting ready for the July 5 Independence Day military parade.”

Garcia Carneiro has announced more rehearsals between June 27 and July 3 which will involve Mirage, Toucans, F-5 and F-16s planes, 2 AMX-30 and 10 AMX-13 tanks, 40 Dragoon vehicles and 4 surface-to-air batteries.

According to the General, parade will be a clear public demonstration that the Armed Force (FAN) is “fairly cohesive.” (Tuesday, June 18, 2002) Search!
